Five Steps to Adopting a Greyhound

When it comes to adopting your new best friend through Greyhounds As Pets, the process couldn’t be simpler! There are only five easy steps you need to take before welcoming a new family member into your home. Here at Greyhounds As Pets, we always try to make your adoption process is as seamless as possible, while also offering you constant guidance and support.  Here is all you need to know about our adoption process. Step one: Have a read of the information on our website (particularly the sections about Adopting, Fostering and the FAQ’s) to make sure that the greyhound breed is for you. While greyhounds make a great low maintenance pet, welcoming a new furry family member is always a big step and it is important you are making an informed decision. If you have any questions about the breed or our program, make sure to contact us! Step two: Check out all the available greyhounds on our website and pick out a few of your favourites. We always have a variety of greyhounds available to suit most people’s lifestyles, so you shouldn’t have an issue finding the right one for you! If we don’t have a greyhound that suits your needs straight away, make sure to check back regularly or contact us as we always have new greyhounds coming into our program. Step three: Fill in our adoption application and property checklist online so we can find out more about you and your lifestyle. This is to make sure we match you with the ideal greyhound. Ensure you mention any specific greyhounds you are interested in. One of our team will be in contact with you, and provided there are no issues with your application or property, we can start the processing the adoption straight away. Step four: If you are interested in meeting one (or more) of our greyhounds before finalising your adoption, we can organise for you to visit our Central Coast kennels for a face-to-face introduction. Simply talk to one of our team members and we can organise an appointment at a suitable time. Step five: Once we’ve matched you with a greyhound, it’s time for them to join your home! Once all the paperwork is processed and our $250 adoption fee is received,  your greyhound can be picked up from our facility or we can organise a transport and drop-off option too (fees may apply). Depending on which adoption option you choose (adopt or foster with a view to adopt), there is a trial period to make sure there’s no issues. We also offer ongoing support to all our adopters to help ensure that everything goes smoothly.
