Greenhounds is the program which governed all muzzling exemptions for pet Greyhounds in NSW prior to 1 July 2019 and will continue to certify greyhounds to go unmuzzled in off-leash designated dog areas. The program was launched in October 2011 and marked the start of a positive new era in companion Greyhound ownership and welfare. Prior to this, the NSW Companion Animals Act required all Greyhounds, regardless of being a racing dog or pet, to be muzzled in a public place.
