Fruit is jam-packed full of good stuff like vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fibre. This goodness can provide many health benefits for your dog including boosting their immune system, improving gut health, and have also been known to help prevent cancer.

When it comes to your dog, not all fruit was created equal. Some fruit can be super beneficial, while others may pose a risk to their health. Here's a list of dog-safe fruit that you can introduce to your dog's diet.

Bananas

Not only do they come perfectly wrapped by nature (making them easy to carry when you’re out and about), but they are full of potassium and fibre to aid in muscle and digestive health.

Blueberries

Not only are they tasty bite-sized morsels of flavour, but they contain vitamin C & K, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and antioxidants. Although they can be quite sweet, blueberries are actually low in sugar making them the perfect pocket-sized treats.

Watermelon

There's nothing better than a cold, juicy wedge of watermelon on a hot day. Your pooch can also benefit from watermelon which contains vitamins A, B1, B-6, and C to support healthy nerve and muscle function. It also contains lycopene which is known to protect against cell damage.

Strawberries

Strawberries can help to lower blood sugar, improve immunity, as well as contain anti-inflammatory properties. They are high in antioxidants, vitamins C, K, B, and E as well as manganese and potassium.

Kiwi Fruit

Kiwi fruit can improve blood circulation, improve immunity, promote cell rejuvenation and healthy skin as well as fight cancer.

If your dog suffers from diabetes or is prone to weight gain, some fruit that can contain a high sugar content may not be right for them. Before changing your dogs' diet, you should speak to your vet to ensure the diet plan is right for your dogs' particular needs.
