Looking for ways to add some excitement and of course tastiness to your dog's food? We’ve got you! The addition of sauce can take a bowl of kibble from boring to paw-some and offer some great health benefits.
Try adding some of the below options to your dog's next meal:
Liquid from tinned tuna
Instead of discarding the liquid from your tinned tuna, pour it over your dog's food. The liquid contains omega-3 fatty acids which can reduce inflammation and help maintain a healthy coat. Needless to say, the smell and taste is delectable for your pooch.
Bone broth (low sodium)
Try adding low sodium bone broth to their bowl which will enhance the flavours of everything else in their bowl as well as increase the water content in their meal and support gut health. It's important to note that bone broth can be high in salt so ensure you choose the low-sodium option.
Unsweetened apple sauce
Your dog will enjoy the benefits of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals found in apples as well as fibre to support a healthy digestive system.
Greek yoghurt
Greek yoghurt is not only delicious, but it contains loads of health benefits including probiotics to fight yeast and ear infections, protein and calcium. What’s more, it can restore good bacteria in a dog’s gut when they are on antibiotics.
Pumpkin and squash puree
Don't let leftover pumpkin or squash go to waste. Puree it and layer it on top of your pooch's meal as a delicious addition. Not only will your dog wolf it down, but pumpkin and squash are also known to support good gut health and may help with constipation.
These are suggestions only, if your dog has food sensitivities we suggest you consult your vet before introducing new foods to their diet.
