If you’re a dog owner, you will know that finding and cleaning up pet hair is like Groundhog Day - you wake up and do it all over again every day.
While greyhounds have short hair and don’t shed as much as other breeds, cleaning up hair is a reality of any dog ownership (one of the major ‘pet peeves’).
Keeping pet hair from the sofa is probably one of the biggest struggles given greyhounds love nothing more than to ‘lounge’ (pun intended). The good news is we have some great tips for keeping your couch looking and smelling great.
·         Use a damp chamois on your greyhound for a quick spruce up, this can be done in the lounge room while you are both lounging around it’s so easy.

·         Look for the manufacturer's care instructions before using any cleaning solutions. A cleaning code will be included on a tag which is usually sewn into the underside of the couch. Here's how to decode the symbols:

W = Wet/water cleaning only
S = Dry solvent cleaning only
SW = Dry solvent and/or wet cleaning
X = Professional cleaning or vacuuming only

·         Vacuum: The best investment is a handheld vacuum cleaner (like a Dustbuster), quick to get out and the good ones are amazing. Although expensive the new Dyson’s come with specialised attachments which no longer clog with hair!

·         Lint rollers: Lint rollers are a quick and effective way to remove hair quickly (like right before guests arrive). Opt for the largest roller you can find to cover more surface area for those quick/emergency cleans.

·         Pumice stone, a latest tiktok trend for removing hair from the carpet in the car seems to really work. Be careful as it can be quite harsh and damage surfaces.

·         A damp cloth/tea towel, use in a brisk circular motion and the hair will collect in the middle of the circle. the benefit of this method is that it also picks up any dirty in the fabric also.

·         Rubber gloves: Run them over the couch, they will gather the hair in clumps for easy disposal.

·         Dog hair remover comb: there are some great specially designed dog hair removers on the market, just ensure they do not catch the threads in the lounge or mat when using them.

·         Washing: Wash cushion/couch covers and throw blankets in the washing machine with vinegar to help loosen tough hair as well as hair catchers to attract and catch fur.

·         Regular grooming: The best solution is to treat the cause – brush and groom your pooch regularly to remove loose hair and maintain a beautiful coat – dogs normally love it and if you do it while watching TV it can be quite relaxing.
