There is a Valentine's Day for Dogs!

Just as we have Valentine’s Day to celebrate our significant other and appreciate just how much they mean to us, tomorrow, February 20 is National Love Your Pet Day where pet owners are encouraged to show their appreciation for the unconditional love that pets bring into their lives.

It's easy to take a dog's love for granted because they have been by your side no matter what. Perhaps they were there before you found the love of your life, had even entertained the thought of children and through every house move you've had to endure.

That undying love and companionship they give you should be celebrated at least once a year! So, here are some ways you can celebrate National Love Your Pet day this year and show your pooch just how much they mean to you:

Take your greyhound on an outdoor adventure for the day or have an extra long weekend with them. You could go camping, on a day trip to the beach or even become a tourist in your own town if you don't want to venture too far.

Give them some of their favourite treats or even try baking your own healthy treats. You could also fill their bowls with tasty fresh morsels of sardines, raw egg, cooked salmon, and yoghurt which are both healthy and delicious. Don’t overdo it though as greyhounds have sensitive tummies!

Introduce a new toy to stimulate their mind and give them more playtime (whether that’s a few extra laps around the block or spending longer at the dog park), stimulate their mind, and maybe even help them learn how to use a new puzzle feeder.

Tell everyone just how much you love them by sharing a photo on the GAPNSW Facebook page, this will give you an opportunity to connect with like-minded people as well as celebrate the love shared with other Greyhound owners.
